Looking for a laundromat in Allston?
The Found Sock is the closest fully card-operated laundromat to Allston. We’re about a 6-minute walk from Allston center, right over the Brighton line at 76 Washington Street.
If you live near Harvard Ave, Brighton Ave, Comm Ave, or any of the BU off-campus housing pockets between Pratt Street and Packard’s Corner — we’re the most convenient spot for laundry that isn’t your own building’s basement (and that actually has machines big enough for a comforter).
Why Allston residents come to us
- No quarters needed. Pay with any credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a loyalty card loaded with cash at the kiosk.
- Big washers. 30 lb, 35 lb, and 45 lb machines for comforters, blankets, towel bundles, and the kind of bulky loads building washers can’t handle.
- Start machines from your phone. Download the free FasCard app to see what’s open before you walk over, scan, and start.
- Late hours. Open until 11 PM every day — handy for the BU/BC schedule when you remember at 9 PM you have no clean clothes for tomorrow.
- Free Wi-Fi and seating. Get an hour of work done while your laundry runs. We have stainless steel folding tables and decent power outlets.
Getting here from Allston
- Walking from Harvard Ave + Brighton Ave (Allston center): Head south on Harvard Ave for about 6 minutes. Turn right on Washington Street. We’re a few doors down on the left.

- Driving: Free street parking right out front on Washington St (2-hour limit; plenty of turnover).
- By bus: The 64 and 86 lines stop within a few blocks. Both run frequently throughout the day and evening.
- By T: Closest stop is Packard’s Corner on the B Line, then a 10-12 minute walk.
Tips for Allston students
- A 45 lb washer handles 2–3 weeks of regular laundry in one cycle — much cheaper per pound than weekly small loads.
- Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are our quietest times. Avoid Sunday 11 AM–4 PM (peak hours, the whole neighborhood shows up).
- Tennis balls in the dryer help fluff comforters and pillows so they come out evenly fluffy.
- Move-out week (around September 1) is brutal — comforter washes spike along with everyone else’s last-minute laundry. Come early in the day or wait until Wednesday of that week if you can.
